Life & Presidency of Theodore Roosevelt, 26th President of the United States

"Speak softly and carry a big stick."

The Baxter County Library Foundation is pleased to present a seven-part, lecture series entitled Life & Presidency of Theodore Roosevelt, 26th President of the United States. Join former adjunct professor at the University of Mississippi School of Law, Jim Carroll, J.D., as he presents lectures on the dynamics of the life of Theodore Roosevelt. Explore the American experience of Roosevelt's early childhood overcoming the odds of being sickly & weak to a robust Rough Rider charging up San Juan Hill. Discover Roosevelt's philanthropy, philosophy, religion, and climb to power as the NYC Police Commissioner. We will explore Roosevelt's ascendancy to become New York Governor and ultimately the 26th President of the United States. Experience Roosevelt's endeavor & foreign policy to build the Panama Canal and achieving the coveted 1906 Nobel Peace Prize.

These lectures will be a keystone to learning about the most influential president advancing the United States into being a world power in the 20th Century. All of this and more will be couched in the narrative of Roosevelt being an advocate and lover of wildlife & nature, coupled with the true history of the "Teddy Bear." This series is produced by Peter Giuliano, a former producer of many motion pictures and television series.

Lectures will be held every Tuesday from October 3rd through November 14th. Registration begins September 1, and it is required for the lecture series. The registration link can be found on the Library event calendar, www.BaxLib.org.

$100 donation to benefit the Baxter County Library Foundation is requested for the seven-week series. Limited scholarships are available. Donations are payable at the Circulation Desk at the Library at the first lecture or before October 3.
