Her novel The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek is the selected title for this year’s If All Arkansas Read the Same Book – an annual, statewide reading program designed to promote book discussion in libraries across the state. Since 2001, this annual, statewide reading program has been promoting book discussion in libraries across Arkansas.

This program typically concludes with a live author speaking tour. Due to ongoing public health concerns regarding COVID-19, the author is instead speaking through virtual visits. Advance registration for the Zoom events has opened to the public and everyone is welcome to take part in the conversation.

Email reminders will be sent the day before the scheduled event. The Zoom URL and password will be sent the day of the event. Zoom registration is limited to 300 participants for each event. Both events will also be live streamed on the Arkansas State Library’s YouTube channel.

The novel takes place in Depression-era Kentucky, and follows Cussy Mary Carter who becomes a librarian during the Works Progress Administration’s (WPA) Pack Horse Library Project. Since its original publication, the book remains popular with book club readers around the state and country.

The All Booked Book Club at the Baxter County Library will also be hosting its very own virtual discussion of the novel on July 21 at 6:00pm via Zoom. Registration is required on baxlib.org. Copies of the book are located behind the circulation desk and on the shelf for check out, and unlimited digital copies are available through the Library’s eBook collection Library2Go and the Libby app. All books for the All Booked Book Club for the remainder of the year are available now for checkout. Next month’s book is Now Accepting Roses by Allie Kingsley Baker and Amanda Stanton. All Booked takes place every third Tuesday of the month at 6:00pm via Zoom.
