Virtual Paint Pouring Class with the Baxter County Library

The Library is kicking off hands-on virtual programming by offering a virtual paint pouring class via Zoom July 30 at 1:30pm. Registration is currently open on the calendar at baxlib.org. Paint pouring is a painting technique where acrylic paints are mixed with a specialized pouring medium to produce a fluid consistency. Once mixed, paints are then poured onto a surface such as wood panel to create unique, organic effects as the colors move, mix and separate.

Adult Services Coordinator Mariah Hansen is hosting the class. Participants will create their painting at home, while following along with a Creativebug video tutorial and live demonstration on Zoom. Advance registration is required.

A pre-assembled take-home kit of materials for the class will be provided to registrants on the main list at no cost. Kits can be picked up on Wednesday, July 29 from 10:00am– 3:00pm and Thursday, July 30 from 10:00am–12:00pm. It is recommended that participants provide their own cardboard or plastic under their panels to prevent spillage, and plastic gloves because the project will be messy. Materials provided include an 8-inch wooden panel, acrylic paint, pouring medium, mixing cups, and craft sticks.

The night before the class, all participants will receive an email with the Zoom link to attend the class and a photo of what the set up should look like. Please install the Zoom application prior to the start of the class. Installation will only take a few minutes.

Space is limited, but waitlist sign-ups are welcome. You may write your favorite colors in the notes section during registration, and our staff will try to pick out appropriate colors. No color selection is guaranteed. If you would like to join and provide your own materials or have any questions, please email mariah.h@baxlib.org. If you are on the waitlist, you will be contacted directly if you are put on the main list.  For registration, visit the calendar on baxlib.org.
