Library Foundation Receives Grant for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library

The Baxter County Library Foundation was awarded $2,000 in support of the Baxter County Early Literacy Project. In particular, the grant will fund the Dolly Parton Imagination Library of Baxter County, which is a book gifting program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five, no matter their family’s income. This generous grant is provided by from the Twin Lakes Community Foundation, an affiliate of Arkansas Community Foundation, and the Arkansas Community Foundation. ARCF President, Heather Larkin, stated in her letter to the Library, “We hope this grant makes your community a better place for its citizens.”

Established in 2018, the Baxter County Early Literacy Project is a collaboration between the Baxter County Library, Mountain Home, Cotter, and Norfork School Districts, ASUMH, and other early literacy advocates.  The mission of the project is to equip all Baxter County children with the early literacy skills they need to be prepared to enter Kindergarten, by getting books into their hands, promoting the importance of early literacy, instilling the practice of reading aloud into family culture, and increasing awareness of Arkansas Child Development and Early Learning Standards.  For more information about the Baxter County Early Literacy Project, visit www.baxlib.org.  To register a child for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, visit the Donald W.
