Baxter County Library Has Teamed Up with Area Food Bank to Distribute Summer Meals to Kids

Starting July 2, the Baxter County Library is distributing summer meals to kids and teens, every Thursday from 10am to 12pm. Summer meals are offered to students 18 years and younger at no cost, and can be picked up in the Library foyer. Children will receive five, take-home meals once a week, and must be present the first time of pick-up. Parents can then sign a waiver to pick up subsequent meals without a child. Staff are taking necessary precautions wearing masks, gloves, and disinfecting surfaces before and after distributing meals. This program is a community collaboration with the North Central Arkansas Food Bank.

During the school year, more than 288,000 Arkansas students depend on school lunches as a source of food, and some students continue to depend on community provided meals throughout the summer. This is why the Baxter County Library has teamed up with the North Central Arkansas Food Bank to help provide meals to students this summer. Summer meal distribution at the Library will run through August 13.
