While you are at the Red, White, and Blue Festival, at the ASUMH campus, stop by the Baxter County Early Literacy Project table to see all the activities and goodies they have for young children. The Early Literacy Project is a community effort with involvement from all facets of the community. It is an awareness campaign to educate parents on the importance of reading to your young children. Representatives from several local schools, the Schliemann Center, the Baxter County Library, and other organizations will be promoting early literacy and signing children up for Dolly Partain’s Imagination Library and 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten during the festival. Parents will receive a gift card for reading a book aloud to their children under age five while at the festival, while supplies last.
