Meet authors, Curtis Copeland & Tom Kobb. Curtis says he identifies as an Ozark Hillbilly. Both authors will present the various misconceptions, and real-life stories from the book he co-authored, Ozarks Hillbilly: Stereotype and Reality. Curtis & Tiom will delve into the source, development, and use of the term “Hillbilly.”
“We did considerable research for this book,” explains Curtis Copeland, “including a number of personal interviews. The book attempts to balance various views about Ozarks natives, while also considering the real-life attributes required to survive in this rugged, and sometimes, unforgiving region of the country.” “Hillbilly” is a label based on misconceptions, comic presentations, and outright insults generally hurled by outlanders, according to the new book’s preview summary. “Hillbilly” is also a shared term of comradeship used by native Ozarkers.
Some people might consider Curtis a "Rennaissance Man of the Ozarks" as he was a co-executive producer, starring actor, and wrote the movie, Bald Knobber. Curtis is also the president of The Society of Ozarkian Hillcrofters in Branson, Missouri.
