TEENS: CODE OF CONDUCT

All teens attending library programs/events are expected to treat each other with mutual respect. Teen library programs/events are under the supervision of the Teen Librarian/Library Staff/Teen Library Council. Following this Code of Conduct will ensure a safe environment in which all teens may enjoy the planned activity.

The following behaviors are unacceptable:

  1. Bullying, threatening or menacing behavior
  2. Engaging in disorderly conduct; running; fighting or challenging to fight; or using offensive words likely to provoke violence
  3. Uncooperative and/or belligerent behavior
  4. Use of profane or vulgar language or gestures
  5. Possessing or consuming alcohol or illegal substances or being under their influence.
  6. Engaging in inappropriate public displays of affection and/or sexually suggestive behaviors.
  7. Leaving and returning during events and programs
  8. Loitering, including refusal to leave at closing.

Enforcement
Teens who violate this code of conduct will first be given a verbal warning. If the misbehavior is continued, a written warning will be given. If the misbehavior persists, the teen will be asked to leave the library and parents will be informed. In situations where a person's actions or behavior might jeopardize the safety of any teen, library patron or staff member, or the reputation and property of Baxter County Library, local law enforcement will be called without verbal or written warnings. The warnings are cumulative and will carry over to the next event.
